Cost of U.S. Auto Insurance Up 1 Percent In a Single Month
January 9th, 2011
The cost of auto insurance in the United States was 0.9 percent higher in November than it was in October, according to new data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This data represents a drastic increase in coverage over just a one-month period and shows that the price to insure is still on the rise.
End-of-Year Increases Could Continue Into 2011
According to the CPI report, October and November saw the biggest increases in premium costs–1.1 percent and 0.9 percent, respectively–resulting in consumers paying roughly $8-$9 more each month for coverage.
The numbers from the BLS’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), in conjunction with data compiled from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, were even more telling of the increases we’ve seen in coverage in 2010, as detailed in the press release.
According to the stats, the average cost of auto insurance at the beginning of 2010 was around $853.

Cheap Car Insurance & Tacling Uninsured Drivers
January 9th, 2011
There is finally some good news on the horizon for those people who love their cheap car insurance and yet either stand to lose it or have suffered with it at the hands of uninsured drivers in the past. The government is finally taking a much tougher stance on it that will hopefully discourage those people that are tempted to put others at risk when they start the engine on their uninsured car. Not only has this already been announced but the measures are set to come into force in spring thanks to the action by the Department of Transport.
Although 400 uninsured drivers are caught by police everyday, many ultimately get away with it because they never get pulled over.

Cheap Car Insurance: The Magic Number
December 22nd, 2010
Much has been made of the rises in car insurance premiums recently, with everything from the weather last February to people down the road making a claim being blamed by leading insurers. However, no matter how pathetic these excuses are, it seems that many people looking for cheap car insurance should take their fair share of the blame. A recent study has pointed out that the vast majority of drivers would rather pay between 7% and 8% for their car insurance renewal than taking the time to look around for a new and more affordable policy.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Sticking with the devil you know is one thing but paying through the nose for the privilege is completely another.
