BMF Reports That Motorcyclists are not Getting a Break but a Hike
February 12th, 2010
The British Motorcyclist Association is mad, and rightfully so; the road tax rates for motorbikes are set to go up in 2010, this according to the Chancellor’s pre-budget report that was revealed recently. The British Motorcycle Association has started a petition on the number 10 website requesting the Prime Ministers intervention to put a stop to the tax increases.
Motorbike insurance from The Bike Insurer The BMF stated that during a period of economic hardship, when motorcycle sales are down 27% year on year, it seems senseless for the government to raise taxes on owning a motorcycle. The motorcycle industry is not like the automotive industry that seen motorists and the industry as well benefiting from the car scrappage scheme, no, instead of benefiting, due to a weak pound motorcycle prices has increased. With motorcycle prices rising, there is going to be an additional tax increase of 4% and 6% for motorcyclists. This is coming when the Consumer Price Index is just 1.9%! To combat this untimely motorcycle tax increase, the BMF is asking concerned motorcyclists to sign the petition at petitions.number10.gov. During an election year, it would be good to let the government officials hear the wishes of the motorcyclists, to let them hear how motorcyclists feel about being treated unfairly and see the passion of the motorcycling community when it comes to what they perceive as unreasonable taxation. Motorcyclists who are concerned about the tax increase should sign the petition at the number 10 website as afore mentioned.
