According to the commissioner’s office, more than 11,000 residents were overcharged between 2006 and 2009. The companies that will be issuing the refunds are SAFECO and American States Preferred.

Nevada Cell Phone Ban Appears to Lack Car Insurance Implications
June 23rd, 2011
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval last week signed into law a bill that will make texting or talking on a handheld cell phone while driving a fineable offense, but one that appears to have only marginal car insurance implications.
The new law establishes a $50 fine for a first offense, a $100 fine for a second and a $250 fine for a third offense. Third offenses will also result in a six-month drivers license suspension.
Whether these penalties will have an effect on insurance prices for drivers who get caught talk talking or texting remains unclear.
When insurers look at a persons driving history in order to gauge the risk he or she poses, they generally look at moving violations.

Paying the Price for Online Car Insurance Quotes
June 21st, 2011
Obtaining an online car insurance quote has never been easier. Companies currently offering free reward points for games and other items are offering the chance to earn points while getting the best deal on car insurance. These reward point systems and online car insurance quote sites are coming under heavy fire lately. Lead generation techniques for marketing and sales companies are using landing pages to gain valuable personal information before sending the consumer to their quote This information can then sold out to other companies for telemarketing, bill collections, and cold calling marketing and sales.
The biggest part of the scam to get personal information is to use very low online car insurance quote rates.
