Insurance Coverage of Faulty Roofs

June 13th, 2011

In most cases, homeowners insurance policies do not cover flood damage or water damage done to your home unless you have purchased additional insurance specifically designed for it. However, one exception to the rule is a leaking roof and the damage done by it. You will have to read over the particulars of your policy to be absolutely sure it is covered, but in most cases it will be. Damage to your roof is covered under different conditions than typical flooding or backed up pipes.

If you discover that you have a leak in your roof the first thing to do is to take pictures. Get your camera and a ladder and climb up to the top of the roof and take pictures of any damage visible up there. Full Post..

Alabama House Approves Proposal for Coverage-Verification System

June 12th, 2011

Lawmakers moved one step closer Thursday to establishing an electronic database that would help government entities verify whether motorists in the state have valid Alabama auto insurance policies.

State legislators want to set up the verification system in order to more easily identify uninsured drivers and, ultimately, temper the states high rate of drivers who lack proper insurance coverage.

Alabama has been estimated to have one of the highest uninsured-motorist rates in the nation. The Insurance Research Council estimated that in 2007 about 26 percent of drivers lacked a policy.

Park Home Caravan Insurance Quotes

June 11th, 2011

If you’re looking for a holiday home to give you a much-needed break, you could well be considering the benefits of a static caravan or park home. But, there’s often some confusion between the two, with many people thinking that the names are interchangeable. In fact there are some distinct differences between each of them, and that’s always going to have an impact on the insurance implications.

A static caravan is exactly as it sounds – a caravan that doesn’t normally move once it’s been correctly positioned. It usually finds its home on a caravan site, often being used as a holiday home and rented out when you’re not personally using it. A park home, on the other hand, is slightly different.

Enjoying the Small Moments on Memorial Day

May 30th, 2011

.

As a veteran, Memorial Day means a lot of gratitude to many people whom I’ve never seen and don’t know.

In towns and cities across the nation, veteran memorials commemorate all those who have fallen. When I read the names etched into these memorials, I try to imagine what their lives were like. Chances are, they were short. But usually I don’t think about them going to war and dying, just about what they were missing back home.

While serving in the military, I found myself missing the small things from home.

May 28th, 2011

In March 2011, a Marist Poll revealed that two-thirds of Americans believe that drivers should be retested for their license once they reach the age of 65, even if they have a good driving history. Many experts believe that driving capabilities can diminish when drivers get older from failing eyesight as well as other physical issues and mental restrictions.

But is it a good idea to have seniors to retake their drivers license test once they reach a certain age? Have states looked into this requirement for drivers?
