Automakers to NHTSA: Look at Handheld Devices
April 6th, 2012
Last month, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration unveiled the first-ever federally proposed voluntary guidelines regarding distracted driving, aimed squarely at the technologies automakers are making available to consumers.
Since the proposed guidelines are voluntary, automakers wont be bound to follow them, even if theyre eventually made into a federal rule. But the NHTSA says its looking to stem the introduction of excessively distracting devices into our automobiles by carmakers.
Included in the device list are: communications, entertainment, information gathering or functions that are wholly unrelated to the safe operation of the motor vehicle.

March 27th, 2012
Collision car insurance is provided with, or “conflated” with, comprehensive insurance to comprise full coverage auto insurance. Collision car insurance provides coverage in the event the vehicle is in a collision with another vehicle or any other object.
If you are in an accident, and you are at fault in the collision, your collision policy will pay for repairs to your vehicle less the cost of the deductible. This means that if your deductible is $500 and your were at fault in an accident that caused $2000 in damages to your car, your collision policy would pay out $1500 for repairs or the replacement of your car.

March 13th, 2012
Fast-rising health costs have eaten nearly all the income gains made by a median-income American family of four over the past decade, leaving them with just $95 per month in extra income, after accounting for taxes and price increases, according to a new RAND Corporation study. Had health care costs risen only as fast as the cost of other goods and services in the United States from 1999 to 2009, the same family would have an additional $545 per month to spend in 2009, according to findings published in the September edition of the journal Health Affairs. “Accelerating health care costs are a primary reason that the so many American families feel like they are just treading water financially,” said David Auerbach, the study’s lead author and an economist at the RAND Corporation, a nonprofit research organization.
