Do you have home insurance and separate home emergency cover? If you do then you may need to check your paperwork to see who covers you because, according to a Guardian newspaper report, Homecall+ went bust a week or so ago. Previously one of the leading providers of home emergency cover, its demise has left its thousands of customers without the protection against emergencies that they thought they could rely on. If you are one of them then you absolutely need to check out your options and consider whether or not you should get even more cover or simply drop the emergency protection for good.
If you do feel that you need to take out emergency cover then you have several options.

Enjoying the Small Moments on Memorial Day

As a veteran, Memorial Day means a lot of gratitude to many people whom I’ve never seen and don’t know.
In towns and cities across the nation, veteran memorials commemorate all those who have fallen. When I read the names etched into these memorials, I try to imagine what their lives were like. Chances are, they were short. But usually I don’t think about them going to war and dying, just about what they were missing back home.
While serving in the military, I found myself missing the small things from home.

Could Requiring Senior Drivers to Retake Their License Exam Impact Auto Insurance?

In March 2011, a Marist Poll revealed that two-thirds of Americans believe that drivers should be retested for their license once they reach the age of 65, even if they have a good driving history. Many experts believe that driving capabilities can diminish when drivers get older from failing eyesight as well as other physical issues and mental restrictions.
But is it a good idea to have seniors to retake their drivers license test once they reach a certain age? Have states looked into this requirement for drivers?

Oklahoma Limits Recovery Rights of Drivers Who Lack Coverage

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin signed into law on Thursday a no pay, no play car insurance proposal that will limit the recovery rights of drivers who flout the states mandatory insurance law.
Under the new law, motorists who get into serious accidents while driving without coverage will only be able to recover economic damages for medical costs, property damage and loss of income. An uninsured motorists involved in a crash even if it was not his or her fault will not be able to successfully sue for pain and suffering.
The proposal was approved by 74 percent of state senators and 58 of state house members who voted on the measure.
Oklahoma is now the second state this year to sign such a bill into law.

Womens Car Insurance & The Citroen C3 Picasso

If you have read a few of my posts over the past few months then you will be aware of the fact that I watch Watchdog to see if there are any insurance related matters every week. This week was a huge one because the show revealed an incredible fault with the Citroen C3 Picasso. As the car is a French vehicle that has been adapted to suit the British market, it has a master brake cylinder on the passenger side. As this is not sufficiently protected by the design, it is possible to operate the brake from the passenger side. This could potentially invalidate your womens car insurance if it causes a crash.
So why is it particularly important to women?

Auto fraud ring case in Massachusetts – three persons convicted

Three men have been convicted in the auto fraud ring case by the Massachusetts jury and this includes a chiropractor and a lawyer as well. They have been accused of staging a number of fraudulent accidents, according to reports from the attorney general’s office.
Michael H. Kaplan from Hampstead, N.H., Omar Castillo from Methuen, and James C. Hyde from Boxford were found guilty following a jury trial that lasted for six weeks. They were charged with insurance fraud, attempted larceny, and larceny.
The additional charges of conspiracy to commit larceny and conspiracy to commit auto insurance fraud are still on, and the three will face a trial shortly.
